TOLEDO, OH – Phase I of the Courthouse Dome Renovation project is scheduled to start today, April 3, 2017 and is expected to be completed on August 15, 2017. Phase I consists of three parts:
•Temporary exterior scaffold installation
•Repairs and renovation to masonry and decorative metal cornice/acroteria
•Investigation of the dome surface and subsurface
The project will begin with the installation of temporary scaffold at the southeast corner of the building. The purpose of the scaffold is for contractors to gain access to the dome during the Phase I repairs/renovation. Construction of the scaffold is scheduled to commence on April 3, 2017 and will last for three weeks.
Upon completion of the scaffold installation, repairs will take place from the building roof level up to the dome roof. This scope includes repair of mortar joints, masonry and window sealants, damaged columns and replacement of decorative metal cornice and acroteria. This repair portion of Phase I is scheduled to be completed by August 15, 2017.
The final scope of work will be investigative in nature and will be completed prior to August 15, 2017. The purpose of this portion of the project is to assess the surface of the dome that has not been accessible without installation of the scaffold.
