Once again companies such as State Record Retrieval Board and National Deed Service Inc. are soliciting business through the mail and charging outrageous amounts for public information available at a fraction of the cost at One Government Center.
Deeds are filed at the Recorder’s office after someone closes on a house purchase. They are often one or two pages and can be purchased directly from the Recorder’s office for two dollars a page.
Copies of deeds are available by coming to the Recorder’s office on the 7th floor of Government Center at the corner of Jackson and Huron or by mailing in a request.
If you would like know more about obtaining a copy of your deed or have questions, call the Lucas County Recorder’s office at (419) 213-4400.
