The following Frequently Asked Questions are designed to answer our most common questions and point you in the right direction as you consider working with the Lucas County Land Bank.  If you have questions beyond those answered here, please call our office at (419) 213-4293.

Questions & Answers

How do I know if the Land Bank owns a property?

Please visit the Lucas County Auditor's Real Estate Information System (AREIS). After searching for a particular property, if the owner is the "Lucas County Land Reutilization Corporation" then the Land Bank is the owner of the property.

I'd like the Land Bank to acquire a particular property, but I have no interest in purchasing it myself. What do I do?


Thanks for your attention to your neighborhood! Please complete and return our Request for Property Investigation form. After review by the Land Bank, you will be notified whether the property is an acquisition priority.

I'm living next to a blighted structure that may need to be demolished and if it is demolished, I'd be interested in purchasing the vacant land. What do I do?

We're sorry that you're faced with this situation. Please complete and return our Vacant Land Transfer Application. After review by the Land Bank, you will be notified if the property is eligible for demolition and then sale through our existing programs.

I am (or my business/organization is) next to a vacant lot and I'd be interested in purchasing the vacant land. What do I do? 

We're happy to help! Please complete and return our Vacant Land Transfer Application. After review by the Land Bank, you will be notified if the property is eligible for sale through our existing programs.

I am interested in maintaining a community garden, but do not wish to own the vacant land.  What do I do?

We're always happy to partner with those who want to beautify and support their neighborhoods.  Please complete and return our Request for Property Investigation form if you have a specific property in mind.  If you do not have a specific property in mind, please contact our office for further direction.

I'm interesting in purchasing a residential structure, but the Land Bank does NOT own the property. What do I do?

The Land Bank works every day to help return properties to productive use. Please complete and return our Request for Property Investigation form. After review by the Land Bank, you will be notified if the property is an acquisition priority. If the Land Bank acquires the property, you will be eligible to make an offer for the property (see below).

I'm interested in purchasing a residential structure the Land Bank owns. What do I do?

Great! We're excited to explore this opportunity with you. Please complete and return our Residential Structure Purchase Agreement to the listing agent for the property (or to the Land Bank's office directly). After review by the Land Bank, you may be contacted personally or by our listing agent to answer additional questions. No offer will be accepted until a Purchase Agreement is signed by an authorized Land Bank officer.

I'm interested in purchasing a commercial or industrial property that the Land Bank does NOT own. What do I do?

The Land Bank does not typically acquire commercial or industrial properties until a viable end user is identified and approved. Please complete and return our Statement of Interest - Commercial/Industrial. A member of the Land Bank's staff will contact after review to discuss any next steps.

I'm interested in purchasing a commercial or industrial property the Land Bank does own. What do I do?

We're looking forward to reviewing your offer! Please complete and return our Commercial/Industrial Purchase Agreement. After review by the Land Bank, a member of the staff may contact you personally or through our listing agent to answer additional questions. No offer will be accepted until a Purchase Agreement is signed by an authorized Land Bank officer.

I'm a contractor who would like to offer my services to the Land Bank. What do I do?

The Land Bank is always interested in building new relationships with vendors. Please complete and return our Contractor Pre-Qualification Form. If the Land Bank is in need of your services, you will be contacted by a Land Bank staff member regarding next steps.

I'm interested in purchasing a property the City of Toledo owns. What do I do?

While we're always ready to help, the City of Toledo operates its own land bank. To purchase a property owned by the City of Toledo, complete and return the City of Toledo Application to the Land Bank's office. We'll be happy to connect you with the City's Real Estate Department regarding next steps.

I have more questions and you haven't answered them here. What do I do?

Please call the Land Bank's office at (419) 213-4293 during normal business hours. We'll be happy to answer your questions!
