Victims Forum
The Victims Forum programs are free in-school presentations funded in part through the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization Advocates for Victims and Justice, Inc. Victims Forum educates youth in our community about the ramifications of bullying, cyber-bullying and sexting, teen dating violence, and the heroin/opioid crisis.
PEACEMAKERS
Peacemakers is an anti-bullying program designed to educate kindergartners through fifth graders about the consequences of bullying. Children are encouraged to create a nurturing and respectful environment.
CYBER-BULLYING AND SEXTING
Students in grades 6-12 are taught the definitions of cyber-bullying and sexting. We discuss the emotional and social ramifications and provide tips on how to handle these situations.
TEEN DATING VIOLENCE
Students in grades 8-12 learn the warning signs and various types of dating violence. We provide information to empower young people to successfully deal with these type of situation. Respect, consent, and the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships are addressed.
HEROIN AND OPIOID AWARENESS
This presentation educates students in grades 8-12 about the addictive properties of heroin and opioids. Additionally, we discuss the health consequences and long term ramifications of drug addiction. We share statistics and hold discussions on opiate issues in Lucas County.
