The Lucas County Commissioners support the “Medicare Turns 50” national and local campaign to celebrate the success of the Medicare program and encourages citizens of Lucas County, Ohio to celebrate Medicare’s 50th Birthday on July 30, 2015. Single Payer Action Network of Ohio and Toledo Area Jobs with Justice, along with volunteers from the University of Toledo Community Care Clinic, are throwing a birthday party with the message: We Should Protect, Improve, and Expand Medicare. The birthday party will take place at the University of Toledo Community Care Clinic located at 2150 South Byrne Road, Toledo, Ohio 43614 on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.
Medicare is our nation’s largest and most successful health insurance system serving the healthcare needs of almost 50 million seniors and disabled Americans. Medicare has been the most financially efficient health care system in the United States with administrative cost averaging only 2 percent of program outlays.
